Our Community Life

Schoenstatt has a special mission for the renewal of family life. As the soul of the Schoenstatt Movement, the Sisters of Mary were founded especially to model a genuine family spirit.

For this reason, our common life together is a priority for us. Even those sisters who work and live individually in the world make a special effort to ‘connect’ with a larger house of sisters on a regular basis. Living together with others in community is a valuable support and protection for our vocation. It is also a source of mutual enrichment and personality formation just as one finds in a natural family. What does our common life look like?
Where we live as a community the mealtimes spent together offer the opportunity to deepen our family spirit and to draw new strength from the joy we find in each other.

Times of relaxation are also planned into our daily schedule.  The sisters spend their free time in various ways - alone or with others.  Experiencing the beauty of nature, playing music and games, or pursuing a variety of crafts and hobbies are just a few of the activities we enjoy together. In this way family bonds grow in which the most diverse creative abilities can unfold.

Our working together on community projects and apostolic endeavors helps us not only to fulfill our common mission, but to likewise grow in a spirit of genuine co-responsibility and mutual appreciation for one another. At the same time, we are filled with a sense of pride in our sisters’ family and the original way that each member contributes to the mission we share for the Church and Schoenstatt.
Last but not least, our common life includes our spiritual life, as we create an uplifting atmosphere of prayer with and for one another and together strive for holiness. One of the greatest gifts that we give to each other, and that also build our community life are the daily gifts of prayer and sacrifice!

Living Together

Living together offers many opportunities to inspire and enrich one another. In this way, we are privileged to experience time and again that our common life is a precious gift, as well as a task that enables us to be an example for the world.
